Bears are the mammals that can be found throughout the world. They are characterized by their size, a plantigrade walk (on their heels, like humans), a large body, short legs, a stub of a tail, small, round ears, and forward facing eyes.

In the world there are eight species of Bears: the Brown, Asiatic black, American Black Bear, Polar, Sloth, Sun, Spectacled and the Giant Panda. Each of the species can be found in its own range. American Black Bears are native to North America and are also the smallest bears of North America.

These animals have always fascinated humans. There are many engravings that have been made by the ancient people where these animals were depicted and also sculptures representing Bears. They are known for their intelligence, awesome power and strength - the features for which these animals were feared. And, at the same time, these characteristics are also the ones people admired in these animals.

Bears are distinguished from members of the other carnivore families by their heavy bodies; short tail; short, rounded ears; and plantigrade feet with five clawed toes. Although all Bears are classified as carnivores, the different species vary widely in their feeding habits. The polar Bears, for example, feed almost exclusively on seals and other animals, but they may also graze on some vegetation; the grizzly Bears eat grasses, herbs, berries, and nuts as well as living or dead fish and other animals.
